This game is surprisingly addictive. It starts off slow as you learn the basics, but once you get the hang of it, it's hard to put down. I'd describe it as a combination of Animal Crossing, Diablo, and Warcraft. The dungeon-crawling is especially satisfying, with weapons that feel solid and impactful. The only downside is that you don’t get to keep the weapons you find.

As you progress, you'll start collecting cult members and building your cult. The base-building aspect is also a lot of fun, with plenty of strategic elements. The key is to automate as much as possible so you can focus on advancing the game.

Once you've built your temple, you can start unlocking rituals. The choices can be tough; I've definitely picked some rituals that I later wished I hadn't. Some rituals are incredibly useful, like making your cult members go without food for three days, giving you more time to focus on dungeon-crawling. Others are more dramatic, such as forcing members to fight to the death or sacrificing them for the greater good.

To keep your base running, you'll need a steady supply of gold, wood, stone, and food. Gold becomes easier to obtain once you unlock the offering chest, which lets you trade surplus resources (like follower meat). Yes, I always accept elderly followers just to turn them into meat. You can cook meals with it, but it tends to upset everyone. You can even cook with poop; though I only do that when requested (and yes, they do ask for it). Building a garden is also essential; as long as you have seeds, you'll be fine on food.

While dungeon-crawling is fun and unlocks new content, you’ll probably find yourself getting sucked into managing your base. The dungeon aspect is enjoyable for gathering bones and unlocking items, but it's not the most addictive part of the game.

There are DLC packs available, but I don't think any of them are essential. What I'd really like to see is an expansion of the world with more dungeons to explore. I've put quite a few hours into this game, and I'm nowhere near finished yet. It's genuinely fun and keeps me coming back.
